Annual regional conference on microfinance "Micro financing in Central Asia: today and tomorrow"
Annual regional conference on microfinance "Micro financing in Central Asia: today and tomorrow" has taken place in Astana on September, 18-19th 2008. Conference was a successful combination of efforts of many people and several organizations, but it’s also a follow up KSBD Study Tours’ activity. The idea of conference has been offered and advanced by Zharkyn Zhangaziev (MIT), Shalkar Zhusupov (AMFOK), Murat Imankulov (FRP/DAMU) and Kuanysh Akhparova ( Prime-Minister Chancellery) in June, 2007 after the trip to the 10th World Conference on Microfinance in Sofia, Bulgaria and was developed during other ST to Poland (June-July 2007) ST to Hungary (June 2008) (all ST were organized by KSBD). Local and international experts have taken part in the conference. Special attention on the conference was given to savings co-operatives (SC) which were considered as the decision of some problems of micro-financing in the remote and depressed regions of Kazakhstan.
