Kazakhstan and GEM
During November 2006, USAID’s Kazakhstan Small Business Development (KSBD) Project issued a tender to select a Kazakh university to receive training in Global Entrepreneurship Monitoring (GEM) practices. GEM (www.gemconsortium.org) is the largest single study of entrepreneurial activity in the world and has been expanded from a comparison of 10 countries in 1999 to 42 countries in 2006. GEM surveys are conducted on an annual basis, and are currently implemented in over 40 middle and high income countries.
Based on the tender issued by USAID’s Kazakhstan Small Business Development Project, the Innovative Eurasia University (IEU Pavlodar) was selected to participate in the London training of GEM techniques and procedures which took place during the first part of January, 2007.
